Sony Launches Xperia Compact AI Camera Smartphone in Japan

Tokyo, June 28, 2025 – Sony has officially launched its latest innovation in mobile photography: the Xperia Compact AI Camera Smartphone. Designed for professional and enthusiast photographers alike, this new device combines Sony’s legendary camera technology with advanced AI features in a sleek, pocket-friendly design.

The Xperia Compact continues Sony’s tradition of merging smartphone convenience with imaging excellence. It features a dual-lens Zeiss Optics setup, a 1-inch Exmor RS sensor, and Sony’s proprietary BIONZ X for Mobile image processor. What truly sets it apart, however, is the integration of AI-assisted shooting modes, including real-time scene recognition, intelligent autofocus tracking, and AI-guided composition tips.

Sony emphasized that this phone is designed for content creators who want DSLR-level control without carrying bulky gear. The manual photography and videography tools rival those found in mirrorless cameras, including full RAW support and 4K/120fps video recording.

The display is a 5.4-inch OLED HDR panel, offering vibrant colors and true blacks. Despite its compact size, the phone includes a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, 12GB RAM, and a 4,500mAh battery with both fast and wireless charging.

Additionally, the device supports Sony’s latest Imaging Pro and Cinematography Pro apps, allowing users to adjust ISO, shutter speed, and focus manually, making it ideal for vloggers, travel photographers, and mobile filmmakers.

The Xperia Compact AI Camera Smartphone is currently available for pre-order in Japan and is expected to roll out globally in the coming weeks.
